We hope that you are experiencing an enjoyable stay in the Howard Plaza Towers and we look forward to hosting several of you in the residence halls during the upcoming school year!
As we begin to prepare the residence halls for the 2019-2020 academic semesters, please read the below information pertaining to the summer to fall housing transition period. Please be sure to read this email in its entirety, as you will be held responsible for adhering to its content.
If you have already checked-out of the hall, please disregard this message.
Summer Session II Check-Out
Summer 2019 Housing will end on Saturday, July 27, at 12:00 p.m. If you DO NOT have a confirmed fall housing assignment in an on-campus residence hall, you must check out of the Towers by noon on Saturday, July 27, 2019. Please login to your StarRez account to confirm your fall housing assignment.
No extensions or exceptions will be provided to students that do not have a confirmed fall housing assignment on-campus.
Summer Interim Housing Application
If you have confirmed your on-campus fall housing assignment and wish to remain in the residence hall during the summer interim period (July 27th – Aug. 14th), please complete the Summer Interim Housing Application by no later than Monday, July 22nd. Those that do not complete the interim housing application by this date must completely check out of the hall by noon on July 27th. Students remaining in the hall during the interim period will be billed a flat rate of $482.04, which will be charged to your student account.
Note that if you have been selected to serve as a freshman move-in volunteer or are part of an approved early arrival group, you will not be billed for the summer interim period.
Transitioning Into Your Fall Assignment
Once you have confirmed your fall housing assignment in StarRez AND completed the Interim Housing Application, you will be permitted to remain in your summer assignment until your fall assignment is ready for move-in.
Once your fall assignment is available, you will receive an email notification with detailed instructions on how to successfully transition out of your summer space. All residents should be prepared to move into your fall housing assignment within 48 hours after receiving your email.
Please be aware that if you stay in the hall during the interim period, you must remain in the Washington metropolitan area during July 27th – Aug. 14th, in order to move into your fall assignment as soon as it becomes available. Failure to do so may result in additional fees and removal of your items from the residence hall.
We look forward to the opportunity to serve you in the future. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your Residence Hall Manager.
